Once upon a time, in an old building that used to serve as a nursing home, more than ten of us would cram into a small room, pretending to be musos, plucking at plastic guitars, and making a lot of noise. That town was always chilly, but the room was always several degrees warmer – it’s true, we really did check the temperature difference once! Code Monkey was one of the songs on our regular playlist. My friend has creatively transformed the song into one that aptly describes our first year at work. Thanks for letting me share it here, we should all get together and sing this song with the new lyrics someday :)

Scut monkey get up get coffee,
Scut monkey go to job.
Scut monkey have six hour ward round
With awful registrar Bob.
Bob say Scut monkey very diligent, but his memory stink;

“2 needs new IV”.
Scut monkey have long night doing busywork,
He sit down to eat some toast,
But pager don’t give him no rest
